I live in the suburbs of Baltimore in Maryland. I have been married for 29 years and have two wonderful but grown children. No marriages or grandchildren yet, but I am hopeful!! I also have two very lovable dogs…Henry and Jack. My family, friends and even my dogs have been the source for many of the names given to my patterns. Even the phrase, “Eggy Easter,” was derived from my Father-in-Laws yearly Easter greeting!
I have always had great respect and love for any kind of art!! Art, however, was not always valued by everyone in my family with the same importance that I felt. My Grandfather encouraged and nurtured my artwork even from just a young child. My Grandmother taught me how to embroider among many other needle crafts. My Mom, a divorced parent, worried that I needed something solid to fall back on as an adult. We made an agreement that I would take the full spectrum of business courses but would also carry Art as an elective or major. It is so funny that I now find myself in this position to be creating artwork through my patterns and having to type so much at the same time!!
Primitive Stitches began when I designed my first pattern, Entwined Heart, for myself. I had been a part of the craft show circuit in my area since the late 80’s. I wanted a certain look and was not able to find what I needed so I created my own. It was a hit!! I found the work to be very satisfying and fun. I then decided to try my hand at designing for others. I started selling on eBay.
Soon after I began, I was in a car accident in which my ankle was broken in five places. Needless to say, I now had found the time to be able to put my ideas to work. I opened my website one month after my accident. It was the saving grace for my sanity as I sit here a year and a half later still dealing with the inability to walk without pain. I am getting closer!!!
I recently opened my second site, Primitive Heart Embroidery, shared with a wonderful digitizer. I have many plans to expand into other areas in the future as well.
The best part of Primitive Stitches is the many great customers, many now friends, that I have met over this year and a half. Your letters have not only kept my typing skills intact but also touched my heart. With you behind me all things are possible!! My deepest heartfelt thanks!!!
